Orquestra Académica do Conservatório

The Orquestra Académica do Conservatório is an orchestra of elements with symphonic formation. It was created in the academic year 2001-2002, exactly at the beginning of the creation of the Professional Courses in the Conservatory, in which the Orchestra discipline is an integral part of the curriculum for string, wind and percussion students.
The Orquestra Académica, in addition to the pedagogical aspect of training musicians, also have the mission of contributing to the development of audiences, making pedagogical concerts throughout the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The artistic and pedagogical responsibility is from the academic year 2015-2016 by professor Francisco Loreto. In this school year, 56 students attend this orchestral discipline.
The concert
For this concert, under the direction of the Master prof. Francisco Loreto, will be presented a symphonic program very pleasant and accessible to all, with works representative of the romantic repertoire of the 19th Century, materialized in the scores by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Grieg and Reinecke.
Two of these works are concertante, that is, for soloists with orchestral accompaniment. This time the Orquestra Académica will accompany 2 fantastic young people, a violin soloist and a transverse flute soloist who, despite being students, have an extremely high technical and artistic level.
These two soloists were winners of the 12th Children's Competition of the Conservatory, edition of 2018. It will be a great opportunity for the fantastic Ponta do Sol audience to appreciate these artistic talents, which will certainly have a promising musical career.
